Itinerary
Your adventure begins at Momella Gate with park formalities and meeting your ranger guide. The trek starts through open grassland, crossing the Ngare Nanyuki River and entering the rainforest. Keep an eye out for wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes, and colobus monkeys as you make your way to Miriakamba Hut.
- Distance: 10 km
- Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
- Habitat: Rainforest
After breakfast, continue your ascent through the forest and into the heather and moorland zone. The trail becomes steeper as you approach Saddle Hut, located in a beautiful alpine meadow. In the afternoon, take an optional acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820m), providing excellent views of the summit and the surrounding area.

Summit day begins early with a pre-dawn start. The trail to the summit is steep and challenging, passing Rhino Point (3,800m) and Cobra Point (4,350m) before reaching the summit at Socialist Peak (4,562m). Enjoy the breathtaking sunrise and panoramic views of Kilimanjaro and the Ash Cone. After celebrating your achievement, descend back to Saddle Hut for a short rest and then continue down to Miriakamba Hut.

Enjoy your final descent through the lush rainforest to Momella Gate. Celebrate your successful climb with a certificate of achievement and transfer back to your accommodation.
